Classic techniques? No, actual classics against writer’s block.
I look back on when I’ve done the most writing this year and it was while I was reading “The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire” by Gibbon. Yes, that decline and fall. As it turns out, it was several hundred pages of writing inspiration, which I absorbed a few pages at a time after work. “Paradise Lost” served me much the same way.
Why is that? They’re the sorts of writing that makes you work to read it, or so my guess goes. So the next time you have writer’s block, pick up a classic and give your mind a boost from the day to day. It’s done wonders for me.
